僕は、大多数の美大生がそうであったように、図工の時間が大好きでした。褒められたくて、モノを作っていました。だからといって別に「良くできました◎」が欲しかった訳ではありません。「すごい上手だねぇ！」とか「どうやって作ったの、これ？」とかそういう、たった一つの「感動」が欲しかっただけです。
なんとなくで、グラフィックデザイン科に入った僕は、大学で4年間勉強しても、デザインがなんなのかさっぱりよくわかりませんでした。

いつも、考えていたんだけどね。「デザインがもっと世の中に必要とされる時代が来る。」と言うデザイナーがいます。それは本当でしょうか？デザインをすることによって壊されたものを、最近僕はいくつも見かけます。そんな時代来なくていいよ。なんて思うこともあったりなかったり。

僕は、これからもあの「図工の時間」と変わらない気持ちでモノを作り続けたいです。ただそれで、大体幸せです。誰かに褒められればもっと幸せです。世間に褒められれば、それは儲けもんでしょうね。
